Peak Atrazine Levels in raw (unfiltered) water in Community Water Systems, USA, 2008
The dataset is derived from the Atrazine Monitoring Program for Community Water Systems data.
"The Environmental Protection Agency has been collecting data that shows people are drinking water laced with high levels of a weed-killer called atrazine."
Huffington Post obtained this data through a Freedom of Information Act request and have published the raw data of atrazine levels for about 150 community watersheds in ten states from 2003 to 2008.
This dataset has been geocoded using a combination of HAZUS water treatment plant location coordinates, google, state and local government websites and batchgeocode. When there were two of the same location, the "finished" data was used. To find out if your water source on the list, please refer to the actual name of the plant rather than the address or coordinate.
This dataset contains only the test results from each plant from the day the Atrazine (atrazine ppb) levels were the highest for the year for raw or unfiltered water.
"The Environmental Protection Agency recommends that you ask your local water utility for its annual drinking water report if you are concerned about the levels of atrazine in your water. But, as we pointed out this weekend, these reports are not entirely reliable when it comes to the herbicide."
