ETJ 2012

The Extraterritorial Jurisdiction, or ETJ boundary, is the legal ability of a government to exercise authority beyond its normal boundaries. For Laredo, TX and Webb County, the ETJ boundary is that land that extends five miles from the corporate limits. The ETJ boundary is used by the City of Laredo Planning Department to determine if a property owner qualifies for electricity, and is used by the Webb County Appraisal District and City of Laredo Tax Department to determine if a business qualifies for commercial/industrial tax abatement.
